National Geographic Society “Pristine Seas” – multi-year major donor commitment to support the goal of protecting large areas of ocean that is still in pristine condition.

Initiated and led by Dr. Enric Sala, this project managed to designate 26 large protected areas by 2023, covering more than 6.5 million square km, the largest such project undertaken to date.
