The Foundation pursues Project Related Investments (PRIs) that can provide a return of capital and a nominal investment return. We strongly prefer individual transactions backed by experienced management teams with a track record of success in their field of investment.
Areas of special interest include, but are not limited to: fisheries management, fishing rights and quotas, aquaculture, as well as ocean related media projects. The Foundation may invest up to $250,000 per PRI.
Recent PRIs include:
-
National Geographic Partners LLC – disbursed funds for production of a children’s sea book and a sea atlas by Sylvia Earle and National Geographic.
-
Catch Invest – commitment to loan facility to acquire a stake in the New England scallop fishing quota.
